Environmental Responsibility

Everyone in our school has the responsibility to look after the world around us. Everyone recycles paper, cardboard and plastic bottles. All of the children are taught about their importance to care for their environment. We use and look after our nearby forest and maintain our bug hotel.

Children in Class 4 have taken responsibility of Eco-council and are keen to gain the silver Eco-Schools award this year. So far, they have checked people's rubbish and ensured recycle bins are in each class. They have carried out a litter pick around the school grounds, forest and Brandreth Drive. As a group, the children have decided that they will not have class letters and that all correspondence to parents will be via our webpage and ParentPay app.

A Spring clean of the grounds is planned for 2020 as a whole school.

As part of National Tree Week, and organised by Miss Connell and Debbie Shepton from West Lancashire CVS, some members of Eco Council helped to plant an apple tree in our school grounds on Tuesday 26th November. This will contribute to our school environment and hopefully provide us with some tasty produce as part of the Community Food Growing Project.
